2002 Updates

 

December 2002 - Rowan Frost of the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA) provides us with an article on The Connection Between Substance Abuse and Sexual Victimization and Risks and Responses of Survivors of Sexual Violence.

 

November 2002 - Karen Wanjico of Horizon Human Services, in Casa Grande, provides us with outlines for two workshops on Internet Safety and Internet Grooming (tactics used by pedophiles in Internet chatrooms to set up meetings with children they contact). Also included are Internet do's and don'ts.

 

October 2002 - Lily De Santiago, Crisis Volunteer Coordinator at the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault. provides us with an article entitled Crisis and Adult Survivors.

 

September 2002 - PSI offers tips for working with secondary students: Behavioral Indicators of Abuse and What to do if a student discloses abuse.

 

July 2002 - Jennifer Rauhouse of Peer Solutions provides an article entitled Working Together to End Rape by Demonstrating Respect as the Norm.

 

June 2002 - This month we have two articles from Karen Wanjico, of Horizon Human Services. The first, Young Moms, teaches a lesson in understanding and support. The second, Detecting Youth at Risk for Suicide, tells us what to watch for, and what to do, to help prevent teen suicide.

 

April 2002 - CASA discusses their POWER Program which is directed at youth to help build healthy relationships and prevent sexual violence.

 

March 2002 - Northland Family Help Center describes a compelling program they use to help raise community awareness of issues involved with domestic and sexual violence, The Clothesline Project: Finding a Voice.
